Many years ago, I was a sculptor, and I worked in Many years ago, I was a sculptor, and I worked in clay making fat-bottomed girls, among other things. This is Veronica, made for my dear old Dad and named after a certain wee chubby bubby in our life. Before he passed, she hung in his garden, and now she hangs in mine. If you look closely at her mouth you can see that a mud wasp has set up residence inside her head, and also I often need to disrobe her out of the spider web cloak she develops. Nature! Time moves on, and these days I'm a painter. I still occasionally sculpt, but just for myself. Making art really does make my rockin' world go round. I’m super picky about what I listen to while I’m painting. @kariseedenmusic is often my go to, especially for this painting which was inspired by the gorgeous light Karise herself captured at her home, and which I saw on her Facebook page, where she gives such beautiful insights into what it is to be a creative. We are all part of the Lunar Codex project, which has been called the most expansive, international, and diverse collection of contemporary culture launched into space. It's fitting that, in parallel with Artemis - a program attempting to land the first woman on the Moon - the Lunar Codex is the first project to launch the works of women artists to the lunar surface.
